Important Information
Note: Student Employees are ineligible for paid holiday observances and receive straight pay for approved work hours.
Classified Employee – Special Day (SEIU CBA Article 38):
- Each July 1, full-time employees receive 8 hours of Special Day leave and part-time employees receive a prorated amount based on FTE.
- Employees may request the option of using the Special Day on any mutually agreeable day between July 1 and June 30.
- The Special Day must be used no later than June 30 of the fiscal year it is earned or it is forfeited and noncompensable.
- Leave must be designated on the official monthly leave record in Workday.
Unclassified Employee – Special Day (Paid and Unpaid Leave for Unclassified Employees Policy (FAD.011)):
- If granted by the President, employees receive a Special Day of leave equivalent to the employee’s workday.
- The day must be taken on a scheduled work day and used in a single block of time (not in hourly increments).
- The Special Day may be observed as early as the day before Thanksgiving and as late as January 31, or it is forfeited.
- Leave must be designated on the official monthly leave record in Workday.
